Guardian Program

Explore Our Guardian Home Program

Welcome to Clay Acres French Bulldogs’ Guardian Home Program, where you can become a vital part of our breeding family while enjoying a unique and rewarding opportunity. Here, we provide a comprehensive overview of our program, its benefits, and the requirements for becoming a valued Guardian Home.

Understanding the Guardian Home Concept

A Guardian Home serves as a local haven for our top-quality puppies at a 25% discount from the regular pet price. While your Guardian Home puppy or adult dog becomes a cherished member of your family, the breeding rights remain with Clay Acres French Bulldogs. Each Guardian Home situation is unique, and we prefer to discuss specific details individually with each family. Once the guardian dog has completed their breeding career, they will be spayed or neutered at the Guardian Home’s expense, and the dog will remain a lifelong pet.

Costs Associated with Guardian Home Participation

Please note that our Guardian Home dogs or puppies are not given away. The cost of a Guardian Home dog or puppy is 25% off of the limited registration price of the regular pet price, which typically ranges from $3500 to $6,500. The final spaying or neutering of the Guardian dog is the responsibility of the Guardian Home.

Guardian Home families are responsible for the following

  • General routine/annual veterinary care (breeder covers breeding-related expenses such as C-sections, stud fees, and raising litters)
  • Vaccines, regular deworming, heartworm prevention, flea/tick prevention, feeding a high-quality diet, crate training, regular exercise, socialization, and ample love and care.

Benefits of Being a Guardian Home

As a Guardian Home family, you receive the best that Clay Acres French Bulldogs has to offer. Our breeding stock is chosen based on adherence to our breed standard, prioritizing health and temperament. Your Guardian dog or puppy will undergo complete health testing, covering all expenses, before entering our breeding program.

For Guardian Males

A Male Guardian Home family receives $ 200.00 for each stud fee for outside females payable before puppies are registered by their 4th week of age (excluding females in the Clay Acres program).

For Guardian Females

  • A Female Guardian Home can receive $100 per puppy born for up to 3 litters
  • A litter of 5 would render $500 per litter etc.

Our Guardian families experience the thrill of being part of our breeding program and have the chance to witness the offspring of their own Guardian dog.

How the Guardian Home Program Operates

While most of our dogs available for the Guardian Program are females, occasional males may be available. If you are applying for a young adult or mature Guardian dog, they will come to you fully health tested and may have a few more breeding cycles (depending on age and litter history) before being spayed and released as a lifelong pet. For Guardian females in heat, Guardian Families must contact us promptly as an intact female typically comes into season every 6-8 months. This period lasts 3 to 5 weeks, and we require access for breeding-related appointments.   After breeding, the Guardian dog remains with their family until one week before the due date. She returns to us for the remainder of her pregnancy, coming back to her Guardian Family at approximately 4-5 weeks old, after her pups are fully weaned.

Guardian Home puppies come to their families at 8-10 weeks of age. During the first year, we will conduct their health testing. If we decide not to breed the Guardian Puppy (solely at Clay Acres French Bulldogs’ discretion), she remains with the Guardian family.

Guardian Home puppy families are required to provide monthly photos and updates during the first year, and we conduct visits to assess the puppy’s development and build a relationship for the future.

If a male is placed, the process is similar, with us taking the male for breeding or collection when needed and returning him afterward.

Litter Limits for Guardian Females

Each Guardian dog is assessed individually to determine the required litters. Most of our Guardian females will have between two and four litters, depending on various factors. Guardian puppies placed with a Guardian family will have a maximum of four litters. The health and well-being of our breeding dogs are top priorities, and all breeding decisions receive clearance from our regular veterinarian.

For males, they typically work for 3-5 years, but this can vary based on their performance. Some males may retire earlier or work longer, as determined by Clay Acres French Bulldogs.
