🚽 Potty Training Your Puppy
Are you ready to begin one of the most important milestones in your puppy’s development? Potty training may seem daunting at first—but with consistency, patience, and the right guidance, both you and your puppy can succeed!
We understand the first few weeks (especially that first night) can feel overwhelming. That’s why we’ve outlined a simple training routine and included helpful video resources to give you hope and support. Remember—you and your puppy are learning together!
📋 Potty Training Part One: Establishing a Routine
- 🐾 Frequent Outdoor Breaks: Take your puppy outside regularly—first thing in the morning, after meals, after naps, and before bed. Consistency helps reinforce the right habits.
- 🍽️ Scheduled Feeding: Feed your puppy on a consistent schedule. This helps regulate digestion and makes it easier to predict potty needs.
- 👀 Recognize the Signs: Watch for cues like sniffing, circling, or whining—these are signs your puppy may need to go out.
- 📍 Designated Potty Spot: Always bring your puppy to the same spot outside. Familiar scents help reinforce where it’s appropriate to go.
- 🧍 Constant Supervision: During house training, keep a close eye on your puppy when they’re indoors. If you can’t watch them, consider crate time.
- 🪵 Crate Training: Crates can be an excellent tool for helping puppies develop bladder control, especially at night or while you’re away.
- 🧼 Immediate Cleanup: Accidents happen! Use an enzymatic cleaner to remove odors and prevent repeat incidents in the same spot.
